It manages your digital negatives in a database, lets you view them through a zoomable lighttable and enables you to develop raw images and enhance them. A virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers. Darktable 2.4. Last updated: ApThe open source photography workflow app and raw developer Darktable 2.4.3 was released a few days ago. I spent less than a minute on the file (clicked A then corrected exposure, highlight recovery, applied a vignette and added detail) No local adjustments, no colour masking etc:Īnd for those who are really good at editing, here is an image taken with the X-E2 on the Li River between Guilin and Yangshuo. Some tweaking was applied here and there, mostly on A. Here is my Capture One 11 conversion, WB left as "shot". There is noise visible on some of the flowers and some colour smudgyness on the left hand side in the darker parts of the leaves: The ISO was set to 2000, but the image had a correction of -1.3 EV. I think the file is very usable and not particularly difficult to work with. So after the luma masking thread where some people chimed in telling me a few things about Darktable and LightZone, I thought about what those who are good at editing images with that software, what would they get out of my RAW files. I realised that when I started Darktable, it would possibly take me a while to even remotely understand how the software works and then even longer until I can get results.
